If you have been reading my blog, you will know of  my love for anything kitschy and i now extend my love towards CHUMBAK !

Chumbak is brand of Indian souvenirs born out of love for India and the love for Travel. Its started out as an idea to create interesting fridge magnet souvenirs but has now over a period of less than two months has expanded to a full fledged brand consisting of T-shirts/bookmarks/coffee mugs/bags/pens/books and even Boxers for men!

They even have pens dedicated to a particular state that open up to give you a gist about the place!

My love for Kitsch grows triple-fold when i see ideas like these popping up every now and then. Oh! i almost forgot to tell you the best part..Its prices! So affordable and can be shipped as well!

Two of the biggest fashion houses launched their Resort lines for 2011 recently : Dior & Chanel

Dior opened its runways to Shanghai with a resort collection inspired by the French New Wave. As always, John Galliano made it a glamorous spectacle. The colors progressed from lovely ice-cream shades to the glamorous greys and blacks. Interesting patterns and i love the colors of the Lady Dior bags *Notice the 1st and the 3rd pic above)

The collection started beautifully but then it completely lost its focus and elegance.

BAZINGA !

The Big Bang Theory is an American Sitcom that first aired in 2007 and has continued to be a huge success even after its completion of the 3rd season. I have never been able to laugh at any sitcom as much as the legendary "FRIENDS" but Big Bang Theory sure changed that ..

Its just the kind of humor you need: Intelligent to the extent of being geeky yet sarcastic and super funny. The star of the show is undoubtedly Dr. Sheldon Cooper aka Jim Parsons. You have to see him to believe him.. no one in this entire Big Bang world can play his act !

Everything seems to be intriguing about this character to me .. even his clothes ! In my opinion, the tees he sports (which are as a result of his inexplicable love for comics)  have the been the beginning of wearing comic characters on your front!

Simon Helberg who plays the role of Howard Wolowitz, the geeky aerospace engineer, still lives with his mother and considers himself to be a "Ladies Man" is my second most loved character in The Big Bang Theory. As much as i adore him for his cheeky lines, i always have my eyes open to check out his belts!!

 

In the new season too, i noticed him wearing a Pac Man Belt Buckle !

Boy! These guys make me crack up and i can have a Big Bang Theory Marathon everyday !!

Shopped till i dropped !

Its a new phase in life for me .. which means new clothes are needed ! *duh !*
But my latest shopping extravaganza made my ideas about fashion stronger and i would like to share the wisdom with you all as well :)

I was in desperate need of formal wear as i begin working coming Monday morning and i had to find sturdy work wear FAST !
Also i was running on budget, so i couldn't splurge on anything and everything i liked..

My search began at two of the most popular malls in Mumbai : Inorbit (Malad) & Atria (Worli). After dragging myself to all the branded stores and trying on a minimum of 100 garments, i was not satisfied with any one of them at all and ended with empty hands !

So i decided to shop the way i believe in and then onwards it was a smooth ride ..
I strongly believe in Value for Money Clothing and I'd rather buy 20 garments costing me  Rs.10,000 than shopping for 4 items of clothing that still cost me the same. Being Qualified as a Fashion Designer, i know the value of fabric and labour that goes in creating a garment and thus I am not fooled by Branding gimmicks and their associated high prices!

It started off with wanting formal pants (jeans not included). I am unfortunately not blessed with model legs so finding pants is a sheer pain as there are a lot of curves to flatten and hide. Sticking to colors like Grey/White/Black/Brown got me the pants i wanted in the right fit and budget from a small store in Juhu,Mumbai

My next need took me right back to the streets of Mumbai. I am a proud Street Shopper and can get any Brand loyal Freak to shame. Hill Road, Bandra is a treasure chest for shoppers and i highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a Budget buy still not willing to compromise on the quality and the Wow Factor. I got everything i needed from the streets and came back home to an almost new wardrobe !!

When it comes to shoes for running around in the office, you want them to be basic, sturdy and those that do not give you shoe bites !

I have really tiny feet. A dear friend suggested i have Chinese feet and that gave me my hint to shop in stores that sell goods from Bangkok. And JACKPOT ! I found  all shoes in my size there !!

Fashion News

Following a complaint from the Italian Fashion Giant Versace, police charged 110 people in southern California and Arizona in 2003 for selling fake Versace goods.

The award is the highest ever given to an Italian company defending its brand upto $20 Million (£13.4m), Versace says.

More than 70 retail shops were seized during the case.
"We have won a historic judgement," Versace's chief executive, Gian Giacomo Ferraris, was quoted as saying by the AFP news agency.

The effects of the ruling would benefit all of the luxury Italian brands, he added.

Versace had revenues of $359.6m (£241m) in 2009, according to Reuters.
But the company cut a quarter of its workforce last year, blaming a slump in demand for luxury goods and designer items.
The brother of the late Gianni Versace, Santo Versace was a key witness in the case, Reuters adds.

Brands loose major chunk of their earnings to fakes bring created in their name .. A step initiated by Versace should be taken by brands worldwide to ensure originality and authenticity ..

"Challenge" was introduced last May and has arrived in India recently. My brother got the 50ml bottle on his birthday and thats how i was introduced to this energizing scent !

P.S. Readers need to know that when i talk about perfumes its 95% always men's. *including this one* When 

        i shall speak about women's perfume.. you shall be informed clearly :)
